CEMENTITIOUS FIREPROOFING VS INTUMESCENT FIREPROOFING SOLUTIONS

Nettels Construction Solutions is a highly experienced commercial spray-applied fireproofing contractor that works through the Midwest and South Central US. We offer two types of commercial spray-applied or sprayed fireproofing: Cementitious Fireproofing and Intumescent Fireproofing.

Cementitious Fireproofing
Cementitious fireproofing is a Portland cement-based material that is batched onsite and spray-applied. It is commonly used to provide fire protection to structural steel members, but can also be used to protect wood, bulkheads, and structural concrete. Cementitious fireproofing is meant to protect a building’s structural steel from failure in the event of a fire, and the material is significantly lighter than structural concrete.

Intumescent Fireproofing
Intumescent fireproofing is a spray-applied coating that swells or intumesces to many times its original wet film thickness as a result of heat exposure. As the product expands, it insulates and protects structural steel members from the heat of a fire and can provide a one-hour to four-hour fire rating. Intumescent coatings provide a clean, smooth surface and can be finished with a variety of topcoats to provide an architectural finish. These coatings are commonly used when the space around structural steel is left exposed.

We have teams that focus on Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.
