Project Summary
Harrison County Hospital was undergoing construction when a major storm hit the area, and Nettles Construction Solutions was part of this construction process, installing Lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC) roof deck for the building. After the storm, the Nettles team worked quickly and efficiently to provide a clean-up solution and get the project back on track.

The Problem
In February of 2025, Harrison County Hospital’s construction was going smoothly, with the Nettles team providing LWIC roof deck installation services for the project. During the installation process, personnel received word that a major storm was on its way through Bethany, MO. Because LWIC roof deck cannot be installed during inclement weather, the team was required to halt installation and leave the site during the storm.

The Nettles Solution
Before the storm hit, Nettles had already delivered and staged multiple loads of expanded polystyrene (EPS) for use in the roof deck installation process. While preparing for the storm, the Nettles team took extra care to organize, stage, and secure all of their materials. However, the storm was so intense that the high winds broke through the precautions and ended up blowing the EPS and other roof deck installation materials around. The high winds were enough to scatter the material across the roof deck, the jobsite, and even further away, with some ending up close to a nearby interstate. Because of this, the jobsite survived the storm, but was in rough shape afterward. The Nettles team was then faced with the challenge of gathering the materials before the project could get back on track. To accomplish this, Nettles sent a team of 6 professionals to ensure that all of the EPS and other roofing materials were gathered quickly and efficiently. This team organized everything and prepared the site for resumed work.
Once all of the materials were gathered, reorganized, and accessible to the construction team, the site was ready. To compensate for the storm delay and get the project back on track, Nettles sent a team of 12 professionals to complete the LWIC roof deck installation for Harrison County Hospital. Because the team had worked hard to prepare the jobsite prior to the storm, no rework was required, meaning that production could easily and efficiently pick right up where it was left off.
Thanks to the hard work of the recovery team and the preparations completed before this major weather event, the Nettles team successfully completed the Lightweight Insulating Concrete roof deck installation to the full satisfaction of the client. With our dedicated team of experts, we provided a high-quality LWIC roof deck featuring a slope-to-drain configuration that would prevent pooling or leakage during future storms, big or small, in the area.
