Project Summary
Nettles installed new Kwik-Wall Model 2030 paired panels to replace the old partitions in this heavily-used community space. Our retrofit saved the client significant time and money by using the existing carrier bolts.
The Problem
Belton Community Center has a large room that they use frequently for birthday parties, team meetings, recreation classes, and more. They use operable partitions to divide the space and allow for versatile configurations.
As partition panels age and undergo normal wear and tear, they can become misaligned from the track and slip out of the pocket. This was occurring in the community room (staff had to put dumbbells against the partitions so they didn’t slip out of pocket), and they contracted with Nettles for a full replacement of their partition system.
Since they use the room daily, minimizing downtime was a key priority for the client.
The Nettles Solution
A normal retrofit requires removing the panels and track, opening the ceiling on both sides of the track, then replacing the track before patching and painting the ceiling.
Knowing the client wanted the room back in use as soon as possible, the Nettles team worked to expedite the replacement process. We determined the track and carriers on the existing partition were in good shape, then had our manufacturer build the panels with the correct thread for the existing carrier bolts.
This solution saved Belton Parks & Recreation considerable time and money. The install took only one day–compared to the three days it would have taken to replace the track and carriers.
